Police reports May 30-June 1

Burglary, 8:12 a.m. Friday, 2900 block Clark Circle. Resident reported a .38 special pistol and a .308 caliber semi-automatic rifle with scope were stolen.
Burglary, 6:51 p.m. Friday, 2200 block 16th Street. Resident reported that a Stihl weed-eater and a Craftsman lawnmower were stolen from the garage.
Possession of a controlled substance, 7:30 p.m. Friday, 1400 block Fifth Street. Police went to an apartment because of a disturbance complaint. When a man answered the door, he ran back into the apartment when he saw police at the door. Officer S.V. Ward reported he and Sgt. J.C. Steele followed the man to make sure he didn’t get a weapon. They saw him throw a glass crack pipe and it had a rock of crack cocaine inside. Ronnie Oliver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Theft, 8:53 p.m. Friday, 1000 block South Highway 87. Woman reported that a newly-purchases Smith and Wesson .380 semi-automatic pistol had been stolen.
Possession of a controlled substance, 3:14 a.m. Saturday, Ninth Street at Hart Avenue. Officer Caleb Davis made a traffic stop when a car failed to stop at a stop sign. The driver gave permission to search the car and his person. Davis reported he found a plastic baggie with a rock of crack cocaine in the man’s pocket. Jarvis Tremasin Broussard was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Burglary, 5:57 a.m. Saturday, 2200 block Westway Street. 40-inch TV, a Kindle Fire and a gold ring with brown diamonds were stolen.
Burglary of a vehicle, 4:19 p.m. Saturday. A Lumberton man went to the police station to report that while he was in Orange someone stole a .22 pistol, a computer, air card and business files from his car.
Burglary, 5:49 p.m. Saturday, Carpenter’s Place. Owner of house reported that someone stole two Frigidaire refrigerators from the house and damaged cabinets.
Possession of a controlled substance, 9:27 p.m. Saturday, 16th Street at Park Avenue. Officer S.V. Ward was sent to the location because the owner of an iPad stolen from Vinton had tracked it. A woman had two men as passengers. She told the officer they had an iPad while one man answered ‘No.’ Then the man said he was using the iPad with the owner’s possession. Ward reported that he found a baggie with .2 grams of methamphetamine in a backpack by the man in the back seat. Christopher Joseph Randell of Vinton was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Cornell Devon Shelton of Bridge City was arrested for theft.
