Almost 25 percent of the restaurants and food businesses inspected from May 16 through June 13 had perfect 100 scores. The lowest score from Orange County Health Inspector James Scales was an 83 to a Vidor convenience store. The perfect scores went to PK's Grill on Strickland Drive in Pinehurst, Papa John's Pizza on MacArthur Drive in West Orange, Subway on North 16th Street in Orange, Cool Breeze on Texas Avenue in Bridge City, Fastlane on North Main Street in Vidor, Walgreen's on Texas Avenue in Bridge City, Moz Grill and Crawdad's on Highway 62 North in Mauriceville, and Luigi's Italian Grill on MacArthur Drive in West Orange.

Pakco No. 1 at 3031 Highway 12 in Vidor had an 83 score, the lowest for the period. Scales cited several problems, including expired foods on the shelves, towels needed at the hand-washing station, fryers needed to be cleaned, along with floors in the kitchen and prep areas.

Market Basket, 11916 Highway 62 North in Mauriceville: 97. Racks at milk cooler needed to be cleaned of old foods and dead flies.

Romano’s 8.31 Italian, 995 West Roundbunch Road in Bridge City: 97. Walls and ceiling needed to be cleaned of old foods. The air vents in the kitchen and return vents in dining room needed to be cleaned of dust.

Crawdad’s, 11845 Highway 62 in Mauriceville: 97. Mold and slime found inside ice machine. Scoop found on top of ice machine.

Pizza Hut, 580 North Main Street in Vidor: 97. Floors in walk-in cooler along with storage shelves needed to be cleaned. Several broken or missing floor tiles were found.

Subway, 1090 Texas Avenue in Bridge City: 96. Beef and chicken were stored above the green bell pepper in the walk-in cooler.

Kwik Stop Valero, 2000 Texas Avenue in Bridge City: 96. Several expired foods pulled from shelves.

The Original Snow Cone Station, 215 Hebert Street in Bridge City: 96. Hair restraints needed.

Donut Palace, 5320 North Highway 105 in Vidor: 95. Sausage and ham were at improper temperatures.

Days Inn, 2630 Interstate 10 West in Orange: 95. Boiled eggs left out on counter and out of proper temperature.

Burger King, 605 North Main Street in Vidor: 94. Several flies found. Floors and door in walk-in cooler/freezer needed repairs.

Kwick Stop Valero, 2210 South Main Street in Vidor: 94. Soap and several dishes found inside the sink. Slime found inside ice machine.

M&S Grocery, 10876 FM 1130 in Orange: 93. Store name and address were needed on bags of ice being sold. Mold was found on the ceiling in the walk-in cooler.

Texas Snostorm, 2202 MacArthur Drive in Pinehurst: 93. Hair restraints were needed. Floors were sticky and needed to be cleaned. Cabinets had syrup build-up and needed cleaning.

Dollar General, 320 South Main Street in Vidor: 93. Several expired foods pulled from shelves. Inside of milk cooled needed cleaning. Back storage door needed to be re-sealed.

Domino’s Pizza, 7166 North Highway 87 in Orange: 92. Employee drink was with food for public consumption. Faucet was dripping at the compartment sink.

Market Basket Deli, 11916 Highway 62 North in Mauriceville: 91. Dishes and foods were sitting inside the hand-washing sink. Several flies found. Storage racks were outside of storage containers and around fixed equipment.

Waffle House, 2310 Highway 62 in Orange: 91. Several gnats found. Front cooler was holding water and needed repairs. Racks in the front coolers and the storage racks above the compartment sink had rust. Inside of front coolers needed cleaning.

Snow Flake Donuts, 1402 Strickland Drive in Pinehurst: 91. Boudain, sausage and eggs were not at proper temperature. Same pan lines were being used more than one for kolaches.

Casa Ole, 1015 North Main Street in Vidor: 89. Did not have hot water. The inside of the reach-in freezer needed to be cleaned. Air vents and ceiling tiles needed to be cleaned.

Chili’s Grill and Bar, 292 Strickland Drive in Pinehurst: 89. Foods in the coolers needed to be labeled and dated. Food stored on floor in the walk-in cooler/freezer. Old foods found on dishes that had been cleaned. Floors needed to be cleaned of old foods.

Delta Food Mart, 705 Texas Avenue in Bridge City: 88. Towels were needed at the hand-washing station. Roach found inside the compartment sink. Chemicals stored above paper goods and plastic utensils. Mold found on drink dispensers and in slushy machine.

Jack in the Box, 2900 16th Street in Orange: 85. Eggs were not at proper temperature and were left out on top of counter. Beef and chicken were stored above produce and breads in the cooler. Front cooler was holding water and needed repairs. Storage shelves, walls and floors needed to be cleaned of old foods. Area around taco station needed cleaning.

Weinerschnitzel, 2420 MacArthur Drive in Pinehurst: 84. Hair restraints needed. A manager had a nose ring. No hand-washing station was in the kitchen and prep areas. Several flies found. Front cooler holding water and needed repair. Floor tiles were broken. Faucet at compartment sink needed repair. Ice scoop was inside the ice machine. Return vents needed cleaning. Side door was not closing completely.
