Only five of the 18 food businesses inspected during the latter part of July had perfect scores. But as good news, 11 had scores in the 90s. The two lowest scores, 73 and 79, were from places in Vidor. James Scales, Orange County health inspector, released the list of scores for July 16-30. The perfect scores were for New Orleans Style Snoball in Vidor, Subway in Vidor, Simply Sweet Treats on Ben Mac Road in Orange, Quizno's Subs in Pinehurst and Texaco Food Mart on North Main Street in Vidor. Happy Donuts on North Main had the lowest score with a 73. Other scores are:
Gator’s Nest, 3145 Texas Avenue in Bridge City: 97. Vents above fryers needed to be cleaned.
Snappy’s Express Mart, 3145 Highway 87 in Bridge City: 97. Fans inside the walk-in coolers needed to be cleaned of dust.
Ruby’s Country Cafe, 10930 Highway 12 in Mauriceville: 97. Area around fryers needed to be cleaned. Outside of storage containers needed to be cleaned. Ceiling paint was beginning to come off.
Danny’s Super Foods Deli, 2003 Western Avenue in West Orange: 97. Vents, walls and floors around the fryers needed to be cleaned. The inside of the oven needed to be cleaned. Utensils under a fly trap needed to be moved.

Valero Kwick Stop, 1427 Strickland Drive in Orange: 94. A couple of dead roaches were found in the storage room. Motor oil was stored above pet food.
Sunset Grove Country Club, 2900 West Sunset Drive in Orange: 94. Several dead roaches found in back storage area. The outside of storage equipment needed to be cleaned. Gaskets in the reach-in cooler needed to be replaced or repaired.
Petro Plus, 1955 MLK Drive in Orange: 93. The store name and address were needed on bags of ice being sold. Mold found on drink dispensers.
Dollar General, 2500 MLK Drive in Orange: 93. Several expired foods pulled from shelves. The area around the milk and eggs needed to be cleaned.
Subway, 300 North Main Street in Vidor: 92. Grilled chicken and meatballs were not at proper temperatures. Slight mold found inside the ice machine.
Domino’s Pizza, 970 North Main Street in Vidor: 90. Drinks and candy belonging to employees were found stored with the foods for public use. Several flies and gnats found. Ovens needed to be cleaned. The walls by the washer and dryer needed to be repaired. In addition, all wet mops needed to be hung to dry instead of being stored on the floor.
Spindletop Restaurant, 1480 West Freeway Boulevard in Vidor: 79. Drinks belonging to employees were on the prep table. Foods in the cooler needed to be labeled and dated. Milk was stored next to raw meet in the walk-in cooler. Chicken was defrosting in the three-compartment sink. Soap and towels were needed at the hand-washing station. Several gnats found.
Happy Donuts, 1081 North Main Street in Vidor: 73. Sausage, egg and boudain were not in correct temperature. Foods in the cooler needed to be labeled and dated. Restaurant was using the same pan line multiple times for kolaches. Boudain was stored inside grocery bags and not containers. Dough not properly stored. In addition, no hot water was in the restroom, the cooler motor was dripping water inside the cooler, kolaches were stored underneath, and cappuccino machine and storage racks needed to be cleaned of old foods.
